Understanding the Specimen Record View

The specimen record-view provides full details of an individual specimen and is an example of a standard record-view (see <link>Record Views</link> for details of the shared properties and capabilities of all record-view types).  It can be accessed from the specimen list-view, either by double-clicking on a single specimen row (away from the action icons) or by clicking on the “eye” (view) icon.

Beyond the specimen specific actions along the top, followed by the set of populated specimen attributes, the following tables are present:

  • Direct Tests: Displays all direct tests currently provisioned on the specimen, with columns for Test Name, actions (Edit and Delete), Status (Requested or Completed), Requested timestamp and Completed timestamp.
  • Cultures: Displays all cultures currently provisioned on the specimen, with columns for culture No., Type, actions (View, Edit, AST Tests and Delete), Organism and Quantity.
  • Comments: Shows all comments associated with the specimen, both standard and free‑text, including the author and timestamp. Entries are displayed in chronological order.
  • Report History: Lists all reports generated for the specimen, both interim and final. Reports can be downloaded as PDFs when needed.
