The specimen archive is a standard list‑view containing only specimens that have reached a terminal state — either rejected as non‑viable or fully processed and signed off. For details of the shared properties and capabilities of all list‑view types, see <link>List Views</link>.
The purpose of the specimen archive is to provide a dedicated area for specimens that no longer require operational attention, allowing the main specimen list‑view (see <link>Specimens</link>) to remain focused on active work.
While relatively few actions are typically available for archived specimens, this reflects the specimen’s state rather than its presence in the archive. One important action that is available only in the specimen archive is the Restart action, represented by the up‑arrow and down‑arrow icon (see below).
This action allows a specimen to be returned to the active specimen list by applying an appropriate state change, should it have been archived in error. Care must be taken to select a state that is consistent with the specimen’s history.
In addition, because the default workflow generates a full report upon final specimen approval, this report becomes visible for the first time within the specimen record of an archived specimen, specifically within the Report History table. It is also searchable from the Batches list‑view within Reports on the main navigation menu.
