Understanding the Tests List Views (Direct Tests and Culture Tests)

The test list‑views are accessed from the Tests option on the main navigation bar (on the left side of the screen, or via the burger menu on a phone). Selecting this option reveals two sub‑menus: Direct Tests and Culture Tests. Each opens a standard list‑view showing all direct tests or all culture tests, respectively.  For details of the shared properties and capabilities of all list-view types, see <link>List Views</link>.

These views add no functionality beyond what is available in the specimen list‑view.  Instead, they provide a more efficient workflow for practitioners, particularly in larger laboratories, who focus on performing specific direct or culture tests. Rather than searching through active specimens to find the tests they are responsible for, users can open the Direct Tests or Culture Tests list‑view to see all requested tests of the relevant type in one place.

While text and specimen‑type filters are available, the primary filters for these list‑views are the Test filter and the Test Status filter. These allow users to select all tests of one or more specific types that remain incomplete, effectively generating a work‑list. The Accession Number, First Name, Surname, Patient Ref, and Specimen Type are shown for each entry to support correlation.  In the example below, the direct test list-view has been used to list all outstanding Direct Microscopy tests that still need to be performed or recorded.
